I am not a kennel operation, my dogs live in my home near Iowa City, Iowa and my puppies are lovingly raised there as well, using Puppy Culture Protocol to ensure they become friendly, social, outgoing and happy dogs, with problem-solving skills, prepared for what life presents. We fully health test our dogs prior to breeding beyond the OFA recommendations for Standard Poodles. Our pups are given the Volhart Aptitude Test to ensure they are matched with their new owners' plans for them.
We show our dogs in Conformation as well as Performance such as: Rally Obedience/Canine Good Citizen and Precision Coursing, this summer we will be working on Dock Diving and Trick Training
Owner Lynelle Mellecker became a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 1988 and an IPG Certified Master Pet Stylist in 1994.
She's owned Standard Poodles for 30 years, she began showing in AKC Conformation in 2005 and in UKC Conformation in 2017 in order to show Multi-colored Poodles.
All of her dogs are AKC and UKC Registered.

I strongly believe genetic diversity is critical to ensure the future of this wonderful breed of dogs. It is my goal to improve diversity in each breeding to improve health and vitality and a great future for Poodles.

Sky is a dark Blue extreme genetic outlier, one gransire being from Russia and a granddam from Germany. Of the 3,000 Standard Poodles tested for diversity by UC Davis, Sky is in the top 3% for most genetically diverse. ABOUT DOODLES
While I dearly love every dog on this planet, I have concerns about folks who carelessly mix breeds without doing AKC recommended health tests on their breeding stock. While all of the poodle mixes that I know and groom in my salon are very sweet dogs that I love dearly, many of them have health issues that could've been prevented by using dogs that were fully health tested and came from generations of health tested dogs. A goldendoodle I groomed from a puppy started having severe seizures and had to be euthanized at 8 years old because specialists couldn't control the seizures. I have 2 goldendoodle clients with bad underbites and a mini goldendoodle with a heart murmur. With Standard Poodles, I Xray for Hip Dysplasia, have an eye specialist check for eye issues yearly, have my vet check for Thyroid and Heart abnormalities and have a full DNA panel done for: Von Willebrands, Neonatal Encephalitis, Degenerative Myelopathy and PRA/PRCD. A very small number of doodle breeders run these tests or the tests recommended for the breed being mixed to create a doodle or poodle mix. These tests are very expensive which is why many doodle breeders who are more worried about making money don't test. For this reason, if you want a doodle I suggest adopting from a local shelter or rescue, rather than supporting a greeder who is just looking to make money.
Return policy
If for any reason you decide to not keep your puppy or adult dog, Pink Begonia Poodles will take your Poodle back, find them a new appropriate home, and reimburse you whatever amount we receive for your Poodle from their new owners, minus expenses. Unlike backyard breeders or puppy mills, we do care about our pups and are willing to take whatever steps necessary to prevent them from ending up in shelters.
Vaccinations and Worming:
Our pups are vaccinated using Dr. Jean Dodds vaccination protocol, wormed and AKC registered via limited registration unless you have fulfilled a show contract with us. Pet home pups must be spayed or neutered by 24 months of age and are not to be used for breeding of any kind.

Regarding Merle coloration: Merle is not a Poodle pattern, it is not within their DNA. Therefore, breeders selling "Merle Poodles" are selling mix breeds, as this is the only way to introduce the Merle pattern into the Poodle by breeding a Merle breed dog such as Australian Shepherds to a Poodle, then breeding the mix breed dog back to Poodles for a few generations until they look like poodles. The problem with introducing Merle pattern is that the Merle gene can hide in several solid colors of Poodles which can cause unknowing breeding of Double Merles, which have poor health including blindness, deafness and other horrible deformities that we do not need in our precious breed, if we want Poodles to have a long, healthy future. To make matters worse, these breeders are fraudulently registering these dogs with AKC using false color choices. (Merle is not a pattern accepted by any registries for Poodles at this and hopefully any time.)
